Steps

  1. Preheat the cast iron skillet over high heat. Meanwhile, divide the ground beef into two 100 g balls.
  2. Place one ball of meat in the hot skillet. Use a metal spatula to firmly smash the ball into a thin patty. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the patty for 2-3 minutes, until a golden crust forms. Flip the patty, add a slice of cheddar cheese, and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, toast the burger buns in the skillet with a little butter.
  5. Spread the homemade sauce on both halves of the bun. Add the lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and grilled onions on the bottom half of the bun.
  6. Place the beef patty with melted cheese on top of the vegetables. Close the burger with the top half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately with homemade fries or onion rings.
