The Smash Burger is a delicious burger where the beef patty is smashed thinly on the grill to achieve a crispy, caramelized crust. Served with melted cheese, grilled onions, and a homemade sauce, it's a treat for burger lovers.

Ingredients for 2 parts
- 1 tomato
- 1 c. à s. butter
- 1 c. à c. sea salt
- 1 onion
- 0.5 c. à c. black pepper
- 2 c. à s. mayonnaise
- 200 g. minced beef steak 20% fat
- 2 burger buns
- 2 pickled gherkins
- 2 cheddar slices
- 2 iceberg lettuce
Steps
- Preheat the cast iron skillet over high heat. Meanwhile, divide the ground beef into two 100 g balls.
- Place one ball of meat in the hot skillet. Use a metal spatula to firmly smash the ball into a thin patty. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the patty for 2-3 minutes, until a golden crust forms. Flip the patty, add a slice of cheddar cheese, and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- Meanwhile, toast the burger buns in the skillet with a little butter.
- Spread the homemade sauce on both halves of the bun. Add the lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and grilled onions on the bottom half of the bun.
- Place the beef patty with melted cheese on top of the vegetables. Close the burger with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with homemade fries or onion rings.
