Ingredients for 5 parts

Steps

  1. Peel, cut and cook the potatoes in salted water. Drain and mash with milk, butter, salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  2. Chop the onion (and carrot and garlic). Sauté in oil or butter, then add the ground meat. Cook, crumbling the meat.
  3. Add the tomato paste, thyme and bay leaf. Season.
  4. In a gratin dish, spread the ground meat, then cover with mashed potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs (optional).
  5. Bake in the oven until the top is browned.
