Utensils
1 kitchen towel1 rolling pin1 blender1 oven1 bowl1 whisk
Ingredients for 6 parts
- 2 eggs
- 130 g. butter
- 170 g. sugar
- 0.5 c. à c. sea salt
- 500 g. flour
- 100 g. powdered sugar
- 7 g. dry yeast
- 2 c. à s. ground cinnamon
- 200 ml. whole milk
- 1 vanilla bean
- 50 g. fresh cheese like philadelphia
Steps
- Mix warm milk, sugar and yeast in a bowl. Let stand for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
- Mix flour and salt in another bowl.
- Add melted butter, eggs, vanilla and yeast mixture to the flour-salt mixture. Knead for about 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a stand mixer until you have a smooth and elastic dough.
- Form a ball with the dough and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a clean cloth and let rise for about 1 hour 30 minutes in a warm place (the dough should double in volume).
- While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Roll out the risen dough into a large rectangle about 0.5 cm thick.
- Spread the softened butter over the entire surface of the dough, then sprinkle evenly with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
- Roll the dough up from the longest side to form a long roll. Cut slices about 3 to 4 cm thick and place them in a buttered dish, leaving a little space between each roll to allow them to swell. Cover and let stand for another 30 to 45 minutes for a second rise.
- Preheat oven to 180°C. Bake cinnamon rolls for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing. Mix the icing sugar, cream cheese, milk and vanilla until smooth.
- Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly, then generously top them with icing.
